Position Title: Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor 

Position Duties: Responsible for teaching group fitness classes and activities, being responsive to members and guests by offering physical training assistance, and educating members, offering instruction in exercise and related activities. As a Fitness Trainer, you will also provide personal training, member orientations, create exercise programs for clients, answer fitness- and wellness-related questions with patrons, and market personal training packages to guests and members.

Essential responsibilities:

Provide personal training services to members, residents, and hotel guests.

Instruct or coach groups or individuals in exercise activities. 

Conduct new member gym orientations.

Provide exceptional and safe fitness classes to guests and members by planning routines, choosing appropriate music, and choosing different movements for each set of muscles, depending on participants’ capabilities and limitations. Will offer alternatives during classes to accommodate different levels of fitness. 

Evaluate individuals' abilities, needs, and physical conditions, and develop suitable training programs to meet any special requirements. Monitor participants' progress and adapt programs as needed. Teach proper breathing techniques used during physical exertion. Instruct participants in maintaining exertion levels to maximize benefits from exercise routines. 

Plan physical education programs to promote development of participants' physical attributes and social skills. 

Demonstrate techniques and form, observe participants, and explain to them corrective measures necessary to improve their skills.

Teach and demonstrate use of training equipment, such as weights.

Conduct therapeutic, recreational, or athletic activities. 

Provide students with information and resources regarding nutrition, weight control, and lifestyle issues. 

Follow-up with CEO or Director of Operations on all comments, concerns, and suggestions made by members, residents, resort, and day guests.

Ensure that gym, motions studio, and Pilates studio are kept neat and clean at all times by reporting to maintenance staff.

Maintain fitness equipment and report any repairs needed to Director of Operations. 

Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations governing sports, recreational activities, and the use of exercise equipment to members and guests. 

Minimum Requirements

Experience Requirements: Professional certification in a related discipline and two (2) years of personal training experience

Skill Requirements:  

CPR and First Aid certified.

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the human body, understanding of the theory, contraindications and benefits of exercise and nutrition. 

Ability to be intuitive and knowledgeable, responding to the specific needs of each guest and member.

Familiarity training pre- and post- natal clients as well as clients with disabilities.

Hours: F/T, 40 hours per week.

POSITION SUMMARY

You will be responsible for teaching group Pilates and/or Yoga classes/activities, maintaining a neat fitness floor, being responsive to members and guests by offering assistance, and educating members. As a Fitness Trainer you will also provide personal training, member orientations, create exercise programs for clients, answer fitness and wellness related questions with patrons, and sells personal training packages to guest and members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide exceptional and safe classes to guest and members

  • Follow-up with CEO or Director of Operations on all comments, concerns and suggestions made by members, residents, resort and day guests.

  • Keep gym, Motion studio and Movement studio neat and clean at all times.

  • Maintain equipment and report any repairs needed to Director of Operations.

  • Cultivate and maintain a professional attitude and image at all times, demonstrating appropriate speech and behavior, and excellent communication skills

  • Arrive 15 minutes before class or sessions starts unless session requires earlier arrival. Return punctually from breaks and meal periods.

  • Maintain helpful, cooperative relations with co-workers.

  • Available to work holidays, weekends and evenings as needed.

  • Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Minimum one (1) recognized professional certification from the discipline you plan to teach.

  • CPR and First Aid Certified

  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the human body, understanding of the theory, contraindications and benefits of exercise and nutrition.

  • Experience and ability to be intuitive and knowledgeable, responding to the specific needs of each guest and member.

  • Ability to read, write and speak conversationally in English using correct pronunciation and grammar.

  • Ability to learn, remember and perform all personal training services and fitness classes.
