Staying Healthy at Home

Whether you work from home or are choosing to spend more time at home, falling off your healthy habits seems unavoidable but we’ve got some tips on staying healthy while you stay home.

Make a Plan

If you’re home all day it's easy for everything to blend together so creating a plan and scheduling your days is a must. Wake up at the same time every day and eat meals at the same time as you normally would. Everything in between meals is up to your individual schedule. A healthy mind starts with stimulation and will always benefit from activities like completing puzzles and reading. Along with essential daily functions, schedule time for your hobbies or start new ones. Drawing, writing, and painting are just some ways that you can keep your mind healthy and active while skipping feelings of boredom. Explore your creativity or play games with loved ones. When it comes to children it's even more important to keep them on a schedule so they can continue to feed their minds. Set up a time for them to practice any extracurricular activities like choir or drama from home.

Keep Fitness a Priority

If leaving the house is not something you can do, you don’t need a gym to stay active. Use household items like books, heavy cans, or bands in place of weights or stairs and chairs in place of equipment like benches. Also remember that jump rope, running in place and abs are usually equipment-free. If you need help planning workouts then sign up here for 7 days of FREE workouts that we’ll email out. Healthy Meals

If you don’t have access to fresh produce for a limited time then utilize frozen fruit and vegetables as well as chicken or vegetable stocks to make soups with some healthy fiber-rich foods like beans and lentils. Other household items that are great for quick meals are grains and canned sauces which can make fried rice, pastas, risottos, etc. Remember that leafy greens, like spinach and kale, can also be frozen and used to make smoothies or juices.
